Dr. Miller is a foster youth advocate, mentor, and researcher who overcame tremendous odds while in nursing school including homelessness, academic probation, and lack of support from her biological family. She now utilizes her platform to tell her story and inspire organizations while teaching them concrete strategies on how to overcome challenges. Her most recent talk for the Arlington County Department of Child and Family Services was aimed at motivating transitional age foster youth to achieve success and reach their potential.

Dr. Miller has extensive personal and professional experience working with diverse populations. As an HBCU graduate who grew up in foster care, she has been collaborating with nonprofits that serve underserved youth in Los Angeles county since 2005. She spent 6 years teaching at a minority serving institution and has substantial experience mentoring foster and underserved youth. She is currently Chair of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Student Engagement at Cal State University Fullerton in the school of nursing where she develops and sustains initiatives to increase enrollment and retention of historically excluded nursing student populations.
